Purple Valley Trails
We are developing a network of mountain bike trails on an 800 acre block of land on Berlin mountain. In 2024 IMBA completed a master plan for the area and we opened our first “Proof of concept” trail. For 2025 we have partnered with Backslope trails, builders of the Lake Placid World Cup XC course, and aim to open 7 miles of trail by the end of the year.
Phase 0
Hand made with love by our community of volunteers. The Proof of concept trail is open and ready to enjoy. The upper loop is well underway and scheduled to open late this spring.
Check out our events page for opportunities to contribute to trail building.
Phase 1
Backslope Trails begins construction on April 7 2025. The first priority will be the blue climb and black descent on the North side. The green skills loop will follow later in the year. Volunteer trail builders will connect new section will be connected to the Phase 0 loop along 102b.
We are aiming to have these trails open by the end of the year.
Phase 2
Scheduled to begin in 2026, Phase 2 completes the mid mountain circuit of 102. This blue XC loop will act as an artery for fun descents for a full range of skills.
Pending final agreements with adjacent landowners, we will begin work on connections that allow riders to complete a loop from the Bee Hill extension.
Phase 3
The long term plan adds an upper artery to the network, opening up over 1,400 vertical feet of prominence (the most in the state) over 20 miles of trail.
The trail alignments here conceptual and are expected to change based on discussions with the community and learnings derived from earlier phases.
